Imagine Festival in Waterford
The Imagine Festival team have put together a very attractive range of arts events to brighten the late October scene in Waterford. The French film line up looks impressive. I can highly recommend Le Concert a film combining comic farce and virtuoso violin playing . You will hear Kalinka as you've never heard it before and orchestra managers will love it for the pivotal role.
Stalwart of the local scene, Francie White wowed the Sunday evening crowd at Jordans on the Quay . He was ably supported by guitarist and multi instrumentalist Alan Colfer and guest Finnish singer , Laura who performed a very attractive selection of what sounded like a mix of cabaret and folk numbers . The addition of a portable harmonium gave a haunting quality to some of her numbers and certainly cast a spell on the pub punters.
There is something to suit all tastes whether high or middlebrow, the brochure is not too bulky (Kilkenny Arts Fest take note) and it is easy to find out what is on any given day . I can't decide between 75th Anniversary presentation by WDS of the Plough and the Stars or ' The Illusionist' at the cinema . It all looks good . Bravo !
